Mortimer Folchart is a single parent raising his thirteen year old daughter Meggie because Mortimer's wife disappeared a few years back. Mortimer restores and collects books for a living, but this time he comes across a very special book called Inkheart and discovers that he has the power to cast out the characters in the book into the real world. But Mortimer releases evil characters rather than the good ones and Mortimer is forced to release the greatest evil of all. Will he overcome the evils that he has released?
