Set in the 1930's, the time of the great depression, Public Enemies take a look at the life and crimes of the notorious John Dillinger (Johnny Depp). He and a gang of robbers would knock over one bank after another, would kill cops that would get in their way and would always escape jail. So the police department sent a specialist to catch him for good, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale). Purvis gets to the only thing John is concerned with aside from robbing banks which is his girl Billie.
