A homeless, uneducated African-American boy (Michael Oher) from a broken family is given the opportunity to become a star athlete in the NFL. He has been adopted by the Touhys, a well off white family. They make him realize his full potential of being the athlete and student he can be. In the process the Touhys also learn from a thing or two from Michael about being a family.
